Richard Charlton 1889-1912
Richard Charlton son of Kate and William Charlton was born in 1889. He married Mary Elizabeth Burrell on 31/01/1909 in Penrith, Cumberland. They produced two children, Thomas Edward Charlton who was born at 81 Brace St, Walsall in December 1910 and who died of Bronchitis and convulsions on 11/02/1911, and Richard William Charlton born on 16/07/1909 at 15 Rosamond Street, Walsall. Richard senior died of TB in 1912 and he is interred in an unmarked grave in Lowther churchyard. His widow married a further two times, firstly to James Richardson and then after his death to Henry Giles Leonard. Mary Elizabeth (Polly) lived in Penrith all of her life, eventually dying in 1975 of smoke inhalation following a fire at her home.
